Book Review - Bingo's Big Adventure

About the Book
Julia King's debut children's picture book, Bingo's Big Adventure, combines appealing real-world photography with an exciting story told from Bingo the cat's perspective.
A teenage cat adopted into a new farm family from a no-kill shelter, Bingo longs to explore the exciting world he sees going on outside the windows of his new home. After all, as Bingo tells us, "Because I am a cat, I want to explore it!"

As soon as he ventures outside, the excitement begins. Bingo encounters a large white object wearing big black circles, and after careful sniffing, concludes it is a truck. He also makes a new friend, Jimmy the cat, climbs his first tree, and playfully stalks a not-so-friendly barnyard rooster.

After being chased by the enraged rooster, Bingo encounters the lady who adopted him and is happy to return to the house for a nap. After all, exploring your world is a big job for anyone, and a half-grown kitten is no exception.

"In Bingo's world," notes King, "life is a big adventure - one that children will want to join." To that end, the reviews of Bingo's Big Adventure universally praise the book for its tremendous appeal to children. (These reviews may be read at www.bingoadventures.com.) Fascinated by this story told by a cat, children plead for it again and again.

Part and parcel with King's desire to tell a thoughtful, enjoyable story is the message at the end of the book - that people consider adopting older kittens and cats. Often overlooked by families who are adopting due to their lack of "kitten appeal," these are valuable pets that "need help finding placement," says King.

My Take on the BookAs a family of cat lovers, this book just tickled our fancy! With two cats that love to get into mischief in our own home we understood the adventures that a cat like Bingo could have.

I have to say that I loved the fact that the book talked from the cat's point of view and the images in this book were fantastic.

On top of this, the author has done a great job at developing a storyline that draws in the reader and makes all of us interested in Bingo based on this.

I read this story to my girls and found them completely engaged with the text. I know that this book will be a family favorite for some time! Maybe we'll even try and read it to our own cats!

If this book sounds like one you would like in your own library you can find it on Amazon!
