Book Review - 8 Crucial Realities

About the Book
With a foreword by Governor Mike Huckabee, 8 Crucial Realities: Successful Choices for Graduates will help graduates to succeed in their daily life. While most graduation gift books are a compilation of inspirational quotes, 8 Crucial Realities offers an in depth look at eight areas that have a major impact on the graduates future successes or failures. The book debunks some popular beliefs in our culture and replaces them with God’s perspective and wisdom.

In 8 Crucial Realities graduates will gain understanding about the power of their daily choices in eight areas: Personalities, God’s will, relationships, authority, money, lifestyle, honesty, and spiritual principles.  Choices are based on our beliefs, and when our beliefs are incorrect, poor choices will follow leading to “soul toll.” 8 Crucial Realities offers practical steps to help graduates make choices that will create a fulfilling successful life today, and in so doing, establish lasting patterns and habits that will bring graduates continued success throughout life.

Each of the eight sections starts with multiple choice stories and a true/false quiz. This will help individuals to begin thinking about the issues in that section. At the end of each section there is an overview including a summary and discussion/reflection questions with opportunity for self-discovery and growth.
8 Crucial Realities makes a perfect graduation gift or a stimulating small group study.

My Take on the Book
With a strong spiritual undertone and tons of practical application, this book truly is a great gift for a graduate that you know. The author has done a remarkable job at sharing spirituality and reality for our youth. She lays it out with straight talk and yet a warm heart, allowing the reader to know that she does care and that she does want every person reading this book to succeed. I loved that in one of the chapters the author ties in Myers Briggs personality indicators. We use these quite a bit with the students that I work with on a daily basis and they do say a lot about who you are as a person and how you process and interact with the people around you.

All-in-all, this book is a great book, that allows graduates to see that there is hope in the future, and with God by their side they will succeed.
