Book Review - The Lord's Prayer

About the Book
Award-winning children’s illustrator Richard Jesse Watson teams with renown spiritual leader Rick Warren, author of the #1 bestselling hardcover book of all time, The Purpose Driven Life, on the spirited picture book THE LORD’S PRAYER (Zonderkidz; $16.99). Watson pours his signature heartfelt compassion into this glorious celebration of the beloved prayer. Borrowing inspiration from the original prayer, Watson invites children to feel connected to the prayer they’ve heard their parents recite so many times. Young readers will become inspired by the vivid pictures of girls and boys just like them who are playing, smiling, and learning to understand the true meaning of the prayer. With his use of vibrant color and detailed imagery combined with Warren’s simple yet insightful commentary, Watson brilliantly captures the essence of Jesus’ words to his disciples, and helps make THE LORD’S PRAYER pulse with new life.

My Take on the Book
Rick Warren wrote a message to the adults sharing this book with their special child. It is worth reading more than once. He makes some excellent points and I would like to share a few with you. We need to teach children to trust God by praying. It is our responsibility and privilege to do so. We can learn from our children by the way they pray with straightforward and unashamed requests, simple and sincere talking to our Lord, and they do not pray to impress others. "Prayer is the key to living with hope."
I agree with Rick Warren that this powerful prayer within the book's illustrations could become for you a meaningful bedtime ritual.

The book's text is the  Lord's Prayer.  The illustrations  require  close observation and the underlying meaning the illustrator attached to each illustration with each segment of the prayer blends beautifully together. This book lends itself well to one on one discussion of the prayer with your special child and really what does the prayer means when we pray it in terms the child can understand. (As an adult how do you see this prayer in your life?)

Richard Jesse Watson wrote a short message to his readers at the end of the book. I would like to share part of the message with you;
"The world desperately needs this prayer. It is about trust, forgiveness, and a father's love.  The Lord's Prayer belongs to all the children of the world ,  for it begins , OUR FATHER  . . ."

I recommend this book highly and know you will enjoy reading and sharing this beautiful book.
