Book Review - The Pregnancy Test

About the Book
Moms-to-be have plenty of blush-worthy questions that might be awkward around the dinner table, or even at a doctor’s office. Can I use the microwave? Is it okay to get a bikini wax? Why is my partner getting morning sickness? But with The Pregnancy Test, you can get all the answers you’ll need, with none of the embarrassment!

Authors Melissa Heckscher and Dr. Emily Sikking transform all those uncomfortable pregnancy questions into a delightful multiple-choice guessing game. The Pregnancy Test will test your knowledge, from the pre-natal stage through birth, while illuminating those subjects you would otherwise try slipping into casual conversation:
  • Why can pregnancy make naturally curly hair turn straight?
  • Can I ride a roller coaster?
  • Will my cat be dangerous to my new born baby?
  • If my baby only weighs 1 pound, why have I gained 15?
  • And many more!
Entertaining as it is informative, this carefully researched “test” is the perfect gift for new mothers and returning veterans alike. The Pregnancy Test will answer every question you’ve had about pregnancy, but were too polite to ask.

About the Authors
MELISSA H ECKSCHER is the mother of a wonderful 1½-year-old boy. She also writes for several newspapers in the Los Angeles area, including The Los Angeles Daily News and the San Bernadino Sun. DR. EMILY SIKKING is a board-certified ob-gyn at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California.

My Take on the Book
What I liked about this book was that from start to finish this book actually was set up like a test, but it was definitely open book and the answers were ones that all pregnant women may ask at least once in their pregnancy. I even showed the book to my own wife and she stated that she wished that she had taken this test while she was pregnant with Diva-J (our eldest) as this book definitely had the answers to almost any question. I loved the format of the book and whether you give this book as a gift or get it for yourself this book is a keeper.
