Book Review - Where's the Meerkat?

About the Book
A meerkat family is on a round-the-world vacation trip, and kids who open this book are challenged to locate those roaming animals in a series of large, colorful, detail-packed street scenes. The meerkats' travels take them to Moscow's Red Square and New York's Times Square. The friendly but elusive creatures also show up in Venice at carnival time, at a floating farmer's market in Bangkok, Thailand, and at other colorful places that range from Paris to the Pyramids. Ten members of the meerkat family are cleverly hidden among crowds of people in every one of this book's bustling scenes. Kids will enjoy examining each two-page spread and seeking out all ten little animals. Boys and girls will also find checklists that challenge them to identify many other details in each of the book's big pictures. They'll find answers at the back of this fun-filled book.

My Take on the Book
If you recall the WHERE'S WALDO books of years ago and enjoyed the fun of locating Waldo in the various illustrated scenes , you will also enjoy this delightful hide and seek book with a family of Meerkats .

Jen Wainwright has written a story which takes the reader to various parts of the world. For example one location is New York's Time Square.Among the people on the crowded street, ten meerkats are blending nicely into the scene. Another location is Moscow, Russia, where we see a military parade in Red Square. The meerkats are quite illusive. Can you find them all there?
Jen educates her readers from the beginning to the end of the story. I know reading this book helped me to learn new facts.

The three illustrators did an excellent job integrating our sly meerkats into each scene. It was fun to see if I could locate them all without using the answers and checklist in the back of the book. My granddaughter thoroughly loved the adventure of finding the meerkats also.

This book will provide hours of entertainment for your family. I believe it would a nice book to give as a gift.
