Book Review - Saluting Grandpa: Celebrating Veterans and Honor Flight

About the Book
Andrew has heard at school about a special program called the Honor Flight, which honors World War II veterans with a trip to Washington, D.C. While there they get to see all of the memorials built for them. Andrew's great-grandfather was in World War II, and Andrew wants him to be honored as he deserves, but his great-grandfather doesn't want to go. He doesn't even want to talk about all he did for his country. But Andrew thinks of an idea to make Grandpa realize just how special he is: he'll learn the perfect salute! Perfect for children, parents, and veterans alike, this book teaches about the importance of family, bravery, honor, and patriotism.

My Take on the Book
Honor Flight Network is a special program which honors World War II Veterans. The organization raises money to pay for transportation for those veterans who would like to visit Washington D.C. and see the memorials erected and dedicated in their honor.

Gary Metiever took that concept and wove a story about a family and the grandpa who served in World War II. It is a heartwarming story about this man's service to our country and the honor he and the other men and women deserve who served in World War II.

By purchasing the book , you are helping to fund the travel expenses for the Honor Flight Network recipients.
