This was a great book that has so much information on the movies that they are sharing. My wife and I have already been going through this to see what movies we have already seen and started requesting movies that we have not seen from our local library. It is going to take us some time before we see them all, but with such a complete guide you will rest assured that you will find some amazing movies that you MUST watch before you die. I appreciated that this was not just a list of movies. Each movie that is shared is explained in depth and you also get some very cool information about the movie itself. This book was a complete resource that anyone who loves movies will completely enjoy!

Book Review - Wallace the Brave

Wallace the Brave

About the Book
"Walace the Brave is a little taste of classic comics from the past."
The Huffington Post

Welcome to Snug Harbor! Will Henry's Wallace the Brave is a whimsical comic strip that centers around a bold and curious little boy named Wallace, his best friend Spud and the new girl in town, Amelia. Wallace lives in the quaint and funky town of Snug Harbor with his fisherman father, plant loving mother and feral little brother, Sterling.

My Take on the Book
I have been a fan of this comic for some time so I was very excited to find that they finally put it into a book. The book itself is so much fun and the characters and the artwork are so fun to read and engage with as a reader. There are so many parts within this book where I found myself laughing out loud and you will too! This is a quick read and so many of the adventures brought me back to my own childhood and I think others will find that the comic will do the same for them as well. If you have never read this comic before pick this up as you will not be disappointed!

Book Review - Get to the Point!

Get to the Point!

About the Book
Champion Your Best Ideas!

Every time you communicate, you're trying to do something, change something, or move someone to action. You're trying to make a point. But the only way to make a point is to have a point. And the surprising truth is, very few communicators know their points or even understand what a point is, rendering them pointless.

Communications expert Joel Schwartzberg says a point is not just a topic, an idea, or a theme. A real point is a proposition of value. It's a contention you can propose, argue, illustrate, and prove. In this concise and practical book, you'll learn to identify your point, strengthen it, stick to it, and sell it. Whether you want to improve your impact in speeches, staff meetings, pitches, emails, PowerPoint presentations, or any other communication setting, Schwartzberg's novel approach teaches you how to go from simply sharing a thought to making a difference. Which would you rather do?

My Take on the Book
Whenever you are in management, you are asked to talk to people in meetings, small groups and more and people are always looking to you to be able to share your ideas and thoughts in a way that all can understand. This book, while short, sweet and to the point, really gives you a ton of practical advice about things that you can do to become much more effective in your overall communication. The book is filled with step-by-step instructions on what you can do to have more people understand where you are going and follow your train of thought. I really loved how simple the concepts were and how easy they were to incorporate into your daily life. If you find yourself giving presentations, then this book is a perfect one for you to read as you will take a ton out of it and it will help you become a strong speaker.

Book Review - Sketch Now, Think Later

Sketch Now, Think Later

About the Book
Sketching is more popular than ever, but busy lives leave almost no room for sitting down with a pad and pen, and practicing. Many people give up on their potential hobby (and artistic outlet) because they feel they just don’t have the time to lay the groundwork. Here’s a secret though: you do have time each day to practice, you just need to incorporate sketching into your daily life.

Sketch Now, Think Later covers the tools, techniques and tips that author and Urban Sketching Correspondent of Boston Mike Daikubara has developed in his more than 15 years as a practicing artist, and will show you how to fully dive into any sketching situation with limited time and tools, and still be able to produce memorable, great looking, fun sketches!

My Take on the Book

My daughters love to sketch and read and this book incorporates both into one. The book is practical and offers some amazing advice and step-by-step instructions on how to be able to sketch more fluidly without the fear of getting into your head to much.  The book has a ton of valuable ideas and great illustrations / infographics that will walk you through how to be even more successful at your drawings. This is a great book that anyone that wants to sketch should read!

Book Review - Phoebe and Her Unicorn in the Magic Storm

Phoebe and Her Unicorn in the Magic Storm

About the Book
The first Phoebe and Her Unicorn graphic novel!

Phoebe and Marigold decide to investigate a powerful storm that is wreaking havoc with the electricity in their town. The adults think it’s just winter weather, but Phoebe and Marigold soon discover that all is not what it seems to be, and that the storm may have a magical cause. To solve the case, they team up with Max, who is desperate for the electricity to return so he can play video games, and frenemy Dakota, who is aided by her goblin minions. Together, they must get to the bottom of the mystery and save the town from the magic storm.

My Take on the Book
This is a great additional book in the series. Not only do you get an amazing graphic novel with a wonderful story, but you also get action, humor and a bit more. The book also has great characters that you have come to love from past books and will regain again in this great book too!

The book is funny, but it also gives you a deeper glimpse into these characters, more so than what I have seen in the past. While the author could continue to show more, hopefully we will see and learn more in future books too.

This is a great book that has a ton of heart. It is a great book for all ages!

Kiranmala and the Kingdom Beyond: The Serpent's Secret

About the Book

Turns out there might be some truth to her parents' fantastical stories-like how Kiranmala is a real Indian princess and how she comes from a secret place not of this world.

To complicate matters, two crush-worthy princes ring her doorbell, insisting they've come to rescue her. Suddenly, Kiran is swept into another dimension full of magic, winged horses, moving maps, and annoying, talking birds. There she must solve riddles and battle demons all while avoiding the Serpent King of the underworld and the Rakkhoshi Queen in order to find her parents and basically save New Jersey, her entire world, and everything beyond it . . .

My Take on the Book
This is a great new book that offers you adventure, great characters and more! Every page was a journey that led you step by step to the very great conclusion of the book. There was humor, adventure, action and more. We also loved the characters, and with daughters, I loved the main character, a girl who is now a demon fighting princess.  Kiranmala is fierce, fun and a true heroine, and we loved following her journey and so will you!
